The driving force I believe began in childhood, the roots run deep,  the hardships and dramas within the family system, my family  a symbol of the larger family I express through my art. I have the material, personal experience, the good the bad and ugly, I paint and write about, and share openly with anyone who will listen or look, a wealth of material roots deep within my own backyard.
Over the years I have been exploring styles that will best represent this material, beginning with realism, and oil paint, I tediously accomplished what I can with each project, I have worked on mastering most mediums, and strive to perfect the style I believe at the time will best express the emotive feel of each piece.. I have covered much ground, explored and experimented, I have enough experience to select what feels right for each piece, from color pencil, pen, acrylic to oil.
Sensitive to suffering,  I can do little about, other than advocate through my art, I represent both the human and nonhuman condition.

I continue to submit to Art Prizes,.
Beginning with a portrait of Sydney based jazz musician Dan Barnett, Archibald Prize 2006,
When I began this pilgrimage as a full time artist in practise. I had been encouraged, and may I say, very little encouragement came my way, but on this occasion I took the advice as a blessing, went home closed down my Therapy Practice, said goodbye to clients who had been with me for years, and set sail, with the words "Commit and Submit" still fresh in my mind. I asked Dan would he mind being my subject, raw, without experience, I was a believer, people had been saying for years how talented I am.
