“I learned about the sacred art of self decoration with the monarch butterflies perched atop my head, lightning bugs as my night jewelry, and emerald-green frogs as bracelets.” So pleased with this piece thinking this series my most original works, this one especially. Some of my earlier pieces were experimental and painted on too small a support, which is a habit of mine, not having enough materials to support my prolific output, with this and others I chose larger supports, my confidence and expertise growing with each work, depth is the word I often hear when an artist concentrates on a particular theme. I would be happy doing many more but am feeling my audience will grow tied of my "Self Portraits with Socks" hahaha. My socks are a large part of my life, I wear them Summer and Winter around the house, I have very sensitive feet and with bare feet feeling the tiniest crumb or grain when walking on the floor, without my socks on spend too much time washing them, my feet drive me crazy.
