The problem for me working from life is my eyesight, without using bifocals the use of two separate pair of glasses, reading glasses for the work and another pair for long distance, it is impossible, the main reason I have learnt to work without an image for some of my work, as I find working from photos tedious, though I have used photos for most of my work, anyhow for this self portrait I decided to give more thought about how to get around the problem of working from life with glasses as I prefer it, finding it more freeing and less stiff and lifeless, So I thought if I can rig up my full length mirror and place it close enough to where I work I could use my reading glasses for the procedure, it becomes more difficult if I were to do a full length figure, so it will have to be head only. This painting I'm planning is for the Black Swan Art Prize, if I get it done in time, if not there are others + next year, and since it took the Archibald winner four years to paint Barry H I don't see it a problem if I take a year hahaha
