"The Time Keeper"

“Sometimes the one who is running from the Life/Death/Life nature insists on thinking of love as a boon only. Yet love in its fullest form is a series of deaths and rebirths. We let go of one phase, one aspect of love, and enter another. Passion dies and is brought back. Pain is chased away and surfaces another time. To love means to embrace and at the same time to withstand many endings, and many many beginnings- all in the same relationship.”
_ Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Even though I consider this piece completed, I have some tidying up to do here and there, as well as applying more depth to some sections. But that is for the future and I'm happy to leave as is for now. It is a break for me until I begin my next project, in oil, most likely beginning next week................................
Created entirely by my own hand, without the aid of tracing, computer etc, I pride myself on my draughtsmanship which is the result of many years of practising without the assistance of any other tools except for pen ( or brush if a painting )  In the case of this piece and because I have become confident with pen I only needed to do a basic preliminary drawing and for some areas none at all, working spontaneously, following what I saw on the paper as I dotted ( images )  My method of operandi is to select a basic theme, build a story around the central figure, I initially gather suitable material from my files IE photographs, such as family members and pets, whatever is required, sometimes I draw upon images I have collected ( sculls )   the rest is imaginary, for instance in this piece most of the background.. My stories evolve as I work. for "The Time Keeper" initial stimuli was the sudden death of my beloved "Mother the Cat" who was my companion,  loyal friend, confidant and travelling soul mate for the last nine years.
